YFP is a for-good initiative. It uplifts, inspires, challenges and supports to the end where young children, youth and communities benefit from enriching learning experiences.

The Young Filmmakers Programme is a non-profit organization founded by Bertram Fredericks, Irfaan Fredericks and Michael Murphey.

YFP has two mandates to fulfill :

1) The educating of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds at school level from Grades 10 - 12 about the film industry and the employment opportunities it presents and using the skill sets which they learn to tell their own stories,

2) To support young filmmakers with grants of up to R10 000 in the making of short films thereby empowering them to become the next generation of storytellers and employers in order to tackle the 26.6% unemployment rate that South Africa is plagued with.
